The U.S. publishing industry is struggling just like other industries in this tough economy. Americans are reading biographies, philosophy and self-help books, and anything written by a celebrity. Even reality show media-manufactured celebrities are cashing in on major book deals. That leaves many of us who aspired to write since childhood faced with the decision to either keep hoping and waiting on a mainstream publisher to come to their senses and take a chance on us or take matters into our own hands and take the financial risk to publish our own work.
